Companies House holds a wealth of publicly available data on every registered company in the UK. The problem is not access — it is context.
Browsing Companies House directly gives you one company at a time, one page at a time. You can see a list of directors, but you cannot easily see where else those directors appear. You can see a filing history, but you cannot quickly tell whether a pattern of late filings or gazette notices is routine or a warning sign. You can view PSC records, but cross-referencing ownership structures across multiple entities takes significant manual effort.
companyRecon is built around a single idea: the data is already public — the value is in how it is presented.
Every data point companyRecon surfaces comes from the UK Companies House public API, made available under the Open Government Licence v3.0. We do not hold, enrich, or sell data. We do not scrape private or authenticated sources. There are no proprietary databases involved.
The same information is accessible to anyone at find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk. What companyRecon adds is the ability to query it in aggregate, cross-reference entities automatically, and surface patterns that the raw register makes difficult to see.
companyRecon is designed for professionals who need a fast, reliable picture of a company's standing before entering a relationship with it — including:
